Determining what type of hair we have is basic to giving proper care and choosing treatments that help you to be healthy and beautiful. Your mane can be dry, greasy, combined or normal and there are three factors that will help you determine what your type is. See below.
Factors that determine your hair type
- Texture : Texture refers to the thickness of each hair. It can be thick, medium or thin. The thickness is stronger, coarse, heavy and resistant to styling. The thin is easily manipulated, and the medium is a combination of the first two.
- Density : The density speaks of the volume of the hair and its weight. You can calculate it by the time it takes your hair to dry. If it takes a few minutes its density is low and probably fine. On the other hand, if it takes more than an hour, it is thick.
- Porosity : Porosity is understood as how wet the hair is. If you feel rough when dry, and gummy when wet, it has a lot of porosity. Otherwise, it is normal.
Hair types
- When the scalp is rough and dehydrated , the sebaceous glands do not produce the necessary capillary fat, therefore the hair is dry.
- When the moisture in the skin tissue (where the glands produce sebum) escapes moisture and does not achieve good hydration, excessive production of sebum is performed and therefore, the hair absorbs scalp oil by becoming fat .
- On the other hand, the combination of these, will give you fat parts and dry parts. In the case of mixed hair, the excess fat is found in the roots while the tips are dry and open.
- Finally, normal hair is the one that has the right balance. It shines without being dry, but also soft without feeling greasy.
Treatment for dry hair
We must moisturize it so that it repairs and strengthens. Some remedies you can do at home are the following:
- Use coconut, almond or olive oil and sprinkle it on your hair. Let it act all night and rinse well the other day. Do this two to three times a week.
- To apply an effective egg treatment , you will need a yolk, three tablespoons of olive oil and one of honey. Then apply the mixture to the hair giving a massage and cover your hair with a shower cap. Let it act for at least half an hour and then rinse.
Treatment for oily hair
It is important that we avoid capillary products like foams, gels and lacquers, as they dirty the hair a lot and grease it, worsening its condition.
- Milk of magnesia is used for greasy hair . Add to your shampoo a tablespoon of milk of magnesia to keep the melana fat-free for longer.
- Dilute apple cider vinegar in water and apply with the last rinse after washing.
Treatment for mixed hair
The problem with mixed hair is that fat is not distributed to the tips, resulting in greasy and dry hair at the same time. To have healthy and beautiful hair, follow the following treatment:
- Mix seven tablespoons of yogurt and an egg and beat well. Afterwards, perform a massage while applying this paste to the scalp and the rest of the hair. Put on a bathing cap and let it act for 15 minutes and then rinse.
- Blend half avocado , one tablespoon of olive oil and the yolk of an egg. Put this mask of avocado from the middle of the tips and let it act for 30 minutes. To finish, rinse with a mild shampoo.
Treatment for normal hair
The normal hair is balanced and does not suffer great alterations either with the passage of time or with the application of chemicals. To maintain this balance you must preserve your health and give it maintenance, follow the following treatments to achieve it.
- Pour one tablespoon of dried lavender, chamomile and rosemary into apple cider vinegar into a jar. Leave it covered for two weeks. Then strain it and pass it to a bottle. To use, shake it in a cup of water and apply it to your hair as a final rinse after bath.
As you can see, each type of hair needs its treatment and it is up to us to keep it healthy and beautiful.
